What is up online marketing world my name is Ryan Shelley coming to you from the ShedQuarters this is the SMA Marketing Minute. Today we’re going to be talking about the power and the importance of authenticity when it comes to crafting our message online. Whether we are writing content for our website or making a post to social media, we need to be authentic. We need to be real. We need to be speaking to our customers in a way that enhances their world view and that’s really going to connect them to what we are saying.
We’ve all seen those ads out there like, “World’s best cup of coffee”, “Transform your body in just 3 days!” or “We’re the best #1 car dealership you’ll ever find anywhere in the world.” Like, these outrageous claims just don’t work. They’re just more noise in the audience. The only way we’re going to believe one of these claims or fall into this trap is if you were actually Buddy the Elf coming to New York City and thinking you just found the “World’s Best Cup of Coffee” but in reality, it was just another crappy cup of coffee. So when you are crafting your message when you’re trying to come up with ideas of how to connect with your buyers and prospects online, make sure that you do these 2 things.

You need to first, be true. Be true about the products and services you are presenting and make sure that you’re presenting them in a way that actually speaks to people and adds value to them. And the other thing is, be yourself. One of the best and easiest ways to be authentic is just to treat people the way you would when they come into your store when they come in contact with your company. Be authentic, be who you are and you’re going to get a lot further and make more connections that actually matter online.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this segment of the SMA Marketing Minute. Happy Marketing and we will see you next week.
