What is SEO? Is it a one-time fix or an ongoing strategy? Is it all about content or should link building be a part of my strategy? In this video we are going to take a quick look into Search Engine Optimization and what factors matter most. The reality is, if you want to be found online, you need a search marketing strategy and SEO is a very, very important piece.
What’s up, everybody? I’m Ryan Shelley and you are watching the SMA Marketing Minute. Today I want to talk quickly about SEO, Search Engine Optimization. There are a lot of misconceptions about SEO, what it is, and how it should be approached. It’s actually a two-fold process.
The first part is on-page optimization. This is where we are looking at your physical website to make sure that you have good content, that your images are optimized, that your title tags and your meta descriptions and schema mark-up and all of those other things that have to do with your physical website are being looked at and easy to read.
But then there’s this whole second part which is called off-page optimization. This is where we market your site to search engines and users online. We do this through a variety of different ways. Yes, you want to do some social media pushing and building your content that way. But more importantly than ever, to rank for those high-quality, high-traffic keywords, we need to build links. Not just regular links. Not those 500 links you can get of Fivvr you can get for $. That’s a bad idea to do.
You need to build links the right way. You need to earn links by developing great content and promoting that content. Getting in touch with the right people, making the right connections. Finding the sites and communities your site should be a part of, that your site should link to. And promoting yourself, promoting your website through those channels in order to build links. Links are still the most important ranking factor when it comes to your website. If you want to learn a little more about SEO you can check out a couple of the blog posts at blog.smamarketing.net.
