understanding your target audience3 Thoughts to Better Understand Your Target Audience

Determining your target audience is essential to developing a successful inbound marketing plan. Implementing some best practices when it comes to digital marketing will naturally drive more traffic to your site, but if that traffic is not targeted then what is the point?

You want to attract visitors whom you can nurture into leads and ultimately customers who are so stoked about your services or product that they become promoters of your business. In order to achieve this, you need to know who your targeted audience is. The best way to ensure you have clear marketing goals is to create what we call "Buyer Personas".

A buyer persona is a simi-fictional description of your “ideal customer”. By using the three simple thoughts below, you will be on the right track to better understating your ideal audience and ensuring you are targeting the right customers for your business in the most practical ways. This is essential for any business looking to use digital marketing to create new, qualified leads that will convert into customers.

1. It's All In The Details:

Details matter, big time. The get the most clear picture of your "ideal customer"  and how you should be marketing to them, you need to have a firm and detailed understanding of who they are.

2. You Don't Have To Know it All

Take the pressure of your self. While detail is very important, you don't have to know it all. The most important thing is to get started. Research, use what you don't know as opportunities to learn more. Being always willing and open to learn more will take you to great places.

3. You're Never Really Finished:

Our buyer personas represent real people and because people change, our personas need to have that ability as well. By continuing to work on and tweak our personas we will force ourselves to understand our current and potential customers better and help us to focus our marketing towards the right audience.

In Proverbs, Solomon writes "Where there is no vision, the people perish." The same rule applies to your business and marketing tactics. In order to ensure your marketing is being effective in achieving your over all business goals, it needs vision. By understanding your target audience using buyer personas your will give vision to your marketing plan.
