Local SEO Agency Melbourne

Every time I turn around it seems a new local SEO agency has started up and promising amazing results for very low fees. On the surface this may appear to be very attractive, but like most things, you get what you pay for. So how do you know who to hire? What red flags should you look for during your research?

Before hiring an SEO agency, keep these 5 things in mind!

If you want to attract new visitors to your website you need to have it optimized for your buyer persona. Driving targeted, "free" traffic to your website that converts is every business's goal. To accomplish this, many website owners turn to local SEO experts to meet their traffic needs. Unfortunately, a number of these "experts" are far from it and often do more damage than good. Use these 5 tips to make sure you protect your investment and get the most out of your website by hiring the right SEO agency for the job.

#1. What's their research process?

Research is the backbone to SEO. Any SEO agency worth it's weight will place a lot of emphasis on research. When interviewing a potential agency ask them about their research process. Something to look out for from the get go is do they spend more time talking about their services or your needs? Each campaign is unique and should be driven around your company, its goals and the type of consumers you are targeting.

#2. Can they backup their talk with results?

Results speak for themselves. It's easy to buy a domain and tell the Internet you're the best around. Just because your say you're the "#1 SEO Agency in Melbourne" doesn't mean much. Ask for results. Have them show you a case study. Any SEO agency who won't share their results cannot be trusted!

#3. Check their ranking and traffic.

"For Google, 18% of organic clicks go to the #1 position, 10% of organic clicks go to the #2 position and 7% of organic clicks go to the #3 position." - (www.imforza.com) While keyword ranking isn't everything, these stats are pretty hard to ignore. If the agency pursuing you doesn't rank on the first page for any of the services they provide, that is one local SEO agency you should avoid.

#4. Will they tell you the honest truth?

Tweet: SEO is not a science, it is an art. @shelleymediaart #localseo There is no magic formula. So there are times when traffic will fluctuate. Whether it be the time of year, a shift in a particular industry or an algorithm update, your traffic will go up and down and a good SEO agency will learn and adjust. It's important to hire an agency that will be honest and open about the ups and downs. This gives you a better idea of how the process works. Look out for any agency who promises you'll never lose a ranking position. They can't make that promise.

#5. Have them share about their process.

The process matters. There are a number of ways to "gain" the systems to get fast results. The issue is black hat SEO only works for a short time. Google and the other major search engines are always evolving and when you try to "trick" them, eventually you will lose...badly.  A good agency will play within the rules and focus on growing your site as organically as possible. This is will build trust and ensure your long-term success.
