Today we’re going to be talking about LinkedIn. It’s the largest B2B social platform on the web. If you’re looking to grow your business or become an influencer or connect with influencers, LinkedIn is a powerful place to be. Here are five awesome reasons why you should be investing in LinkedIn.
First off, they’ve got 260 million active users, that’s about half of the United States’ entire population. Like that’s a lot of people, and these are people who are engaging with other people just like you. So, taking the time to invest in this network can get you connected with a whole bunch of people.
Out of those 260 million, there’s 61 million senior level influencers. Whether you’re in sales, marketing, or looking for a better job, there’s people that can help you further your cause or your career if you’re connecting with the right people on LinkedIn. This is a lot of high profile people in senior level positions, that could be an influencer, could help take your business to the next level, or even your career to a place you never thought it could go.
The number three reason is 50% of all social traffic is coming from LinkedIn, that’s all of the social traffic. This is when we’re looking at these key metrics out there. Twitter, yes, it’s great, maybe if you’re looking for fast news it can be good for influencerships. Facebook, well we know where that’s kind of heading as far as businesses go. In a lot of the B2B sector, Facebook’s just not where people are at in that case. YouTube, still a growing channel. But when it comes to B2B marketing, people are on LinkedIn, and they want to be connected on LinkedIn. Not only that, but taking action from LinkedIn. So, when they see a piece of content that they’re enjoying or engaging with, they’re leaving LinkedIn and going to people’s websites.
Number four, 45% of all the readers, this is of LinkedIn content, people publish content on LinkedIn, are actually read by upper level management. So, not only is upper level management on LinkedIn, they’re reading content on LinkedIn, they’re learning more about what’s going on in their industry, what’s coming up in industry trends, tech news, whatever those things that are interesting them, they’re reading the content on LinkedIn. That’s quite a bit of a margin there of people reading this type of content on LinkedIn. So, if you’re not publishing that kind of content there, you should start thinking about that as a platform to publish your content on. It can get your content in front of people that might otherwise have never seen it before if they don’t even know your website exists but they’re still on LinkedIn.
The last reason, 80% of social B2B leads are coming from LinkedIn. Now, this doesn’t mean they’re going to always close all these leads that are coming in, but that’s a lot of people coming in. If you want to invest in a specific channel and you’re really looking for social media marketing, you want to start looking at LinkedIn.
There are ways to do it from paid as well as organic, which, that’s another video for another time and place. But the reality is, people on LinkedIn, not only read content, they also take action on content. So, this year when you’re looking at a social strategy for your business and you’re in the B2B community, LinkedIn is a powerful place to be and it’s something you need to invest your time and energy in.
