You fill in the blank; Blogging, re-working old content, or implementing a local SEO stragety... the list can go on forever. Unfortunately, this lie often becomes a self-fulling prophesy. We make excuse after excuse about why we don't have time to do the things we know deep down we need to do. Because of this we never do them and wonder why things aren't getting done. So how do we fix this? Here are few things I have implemented in my digital marketing agency to keep my inbound marketing efforts more focused.
Put the first things first: The more time we focus on putting out little fires, the less time we have focus on what really matters. In reality most of the "fires" don't need our immediate attention.
Plan a Week Ahead: Schedule and block out the time to accomplish the most important things first. Also schedule time to deal with the crises that may arise during the day. But stick to the plan! If you're like me I have to add 15 min buffers on the front and a back end of some tasks to ensure I have enough time.
Not knowing is OK and the sooner we learn that truth the better. But with an unlimited amount of resources available to us, it's up to us to decide if we actually want to learn. Digital marketing is comprised of many different tactics and understanding all of them well can be overwhelming. Don't let the fact that others already have a podcast stop you from launching a podcast of your own, or a blog, or a local SEO campaign or any other digital marketing strategy for that matter. You are unique and your business will put a personal spin on it that will engage your customers and prospects. Stop with the excuses and just get out there and do it.
Building your local brand takes time and patience. In order to grow our business or agency, you must push past the excuses and make time to do the important things, learn new skills and take a step and do something!
