3 Excuses That Detour Us From Reaching Our DIGITAL MARKETING Goals

Digital Marketing ExcusesBuilding a platform to create exposure for your local brand, business or organization is a time consuming and often very overwhelming process. While it takes a lot of time and effort to create inbound marketing campaigns, SEO your site and create content that attracts and converts, we can't let excuses create negativity that destroys our productivity. According to the economics website FRED, the average American spends 1700 hours a year working. Because we spend so much time working, we should enjoy what we do and do it to the best of our abilities.
Below are few tips to help you get out of the rut and inspire you to take your online marketing efforts to a whole new level. 

I truly enjoy being an inbound marketing consultant in Central Florida. Helping businesses grow and build their local brand drives and inspires me. So today I want to spend time encouraging you and sharing a few ways to get your groove back!

"There's not enough time to do..."

You fill in the blank; Blogging, re-working old content, or implementing a  local SEO stragety... the list can go on forever. Unfortunately, this lie often becomes a self-fulling prophesy. We make excuse after excuse about why we don't have time to do the things we know deep down we need to do. Because of this we never do them and wonder why things aren't getting done. So how do we fix this? Here are few things I have implemented in my digital marketing agency to keep my inbound marketing efforts more focused.

Put the first things first: The more time we focus on putting out little fires, the less time we have focus on what really matters. In reality most of the "fires" don't need our immediate attention.

Plan a Week Ahead: Schedule and block out the time to accomplish the most important things first. Also schedule time to deal with the crises that may arise during the day. But stick to the plan! If you're like me I have to add 15 min buffers on the front and a back end of some tasks to ensure I have enough time.

"I'm just not good at doing..."

Not knowing is OK and the sooner we learn that truth the better. But with an unlimited amount of resources available to us, it's up to us to decide if we actually want to learn. Digital marketing is comprised of many different tactics and understanding all of them well can be overwhelming. This has been a struggle I have battled with at many points in my journey, but you can't let other people stop you from doing what you know you need to do! (Tweet - @ryan_shelley.)  Don't let the fact that others already have a podcast stop you from launching a podcast of your own, or a blog, or a local SEO campaign or any other digital marketing strategy for that matter. You are unique and your business will put a personal spin on it that will engage your customers and prospects. Stop with the excuses and just get out there and do it.
